With the end of the fifth season quickly approaching, it is about time to recognize the best show on television and easily one of the greatest shows of all time. Actually, it might be THE greatest show of all time, given that every episode keeps you engaged throughout and places you deep in the world of Westeros. Every single character is developed so well that it allows the audience to either fall in love them, or absolutely hate them. There is a saying that if you hate a certain character when watching something, whether it being in TV or film, then the actor is doing their job extremely well. This saying rings true to Game of Thrones. The "villains" of the show have slowly become some of the most hated characters of all time and make you want to completely destroy your television with the actions that they take. It is just one aspect that separates Game of Thrones from anything else on TV.
It is tough to delve deep into the plot of the show because in doing that, major spoilers would be revealed and ruined for the audience. Without ruining anything, the basic premise of the show is that everyone is vying for the throne in King's Landing which would secure them as the king, or queen, of Westeros and rule over all of the lands. Throughout the world of Westeros there are families that make up each of the lands and together those families each have their own "houses" (which gives them their name and where they are from). As the show progresses, many family houses believe that they have the right to the throne; so war is almost inevitable and death could completely destroy some of the families. The main tagline in the show is "Winter is coming". This is very important because the real battle for everyone in Westeros is coming from the North and everyone must band together to stop it. This is about as much of the plot that I can reveal without giving too much away and I already feel like I have said too much. Just take it from me and please go and watch this show. The action sequences are on par with most of the films that we see today and the character development in itself stands alone as one of the best aspects that make up the show. Game of Thrones has changed the dynamic of television and it will be hard to create another show like this for a long, long time.
